Complete guide for AISSEE 2027 Class 6 and Class 9 aspirants.

Latest AISSEE 2027 Status

As of 6 September 2026, the official NTA AISSEE portal is still displaying AISSEE 2026 notices and has not published the AISSEE 2027 notification. The 2027 application dates, exact exam date, fee, vacancies and final school list are therefore not official yet. This guide uses the latest NTA AISSEE 2026 rules as the current reference and clearly marks 2027 dates and age ranges as expected until NTA confirms them.

Sainik School Admission 2027, What Parents and Students Should Know First

Sainik School Admission 2027 will be conducted through the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination, commonly known as AISSEE, for admission to Class 6 and Class 9. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency for Sainik Schools run under the Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence. Students who qualify must still complete e counselling, medical fitness and document verification before admission becomes final.

The AISSEE 2027 Notification has not been released yet. The official NTA portal is currently showing AISSEE 2026 updates. That means parents should not treat any third party 2027 exam date, application deadline, fee or vacancy figure as confirmed until NTA publishes the new Information Bulletin.

The good news is that the latest official AISSEE rules give students a clear preparation base. The Class 6 and Class 9 age structure, OMR based multiple choice format, subject distribution, no negative marking rule, e counselling process and medical verification can all be used for preparation now, while keeping the final 2027 notification as the authority.

Why October to January Is a Reasonable Working Window

For AISSEE 2026, the original application window opened on 10 October 2025 and the examination was conducted on 18 January 2026. The 2026 score card was released on 27 February 2026. These dates are useful for planning, but they do not confirm the AISSEE 2027 schedule.

What Is AISSEE and Who Conducts the Sainik School Entrance Exam

AISSEE is the national entrance examination used for admission to Sainik Schools. NTA conducts the written examination, while the Sainik Schools Society and the admission counselling system handle the next stages of admission.

Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated to CBSE. Their broader purpose is to build academic ability, discipline, leadership, physical fitness and readiness for future defence careers, including the National Defence Academy and other officer training academies.

Existing Sainik Schools and Approved New Sainik Schools

The exact 2027 list of participating schools and vacancies will be confirmed in the new bulletin. As a current reference, the AISSEE 2026 bulletin covered 33 existing Sainik Schools, Class 6 admission in 69 approved New Sainik Schools, and Class 9 admission in 19 approved New Sainik Schools that had progressed to that level.

Approved New Sainik Schools use a different admission structure. Under the latest rules, a minimum 40 percent route is open through AISSEE merit, while up to 60 percent of seats may be used for eligible students already studying in the approved New Sainik School. Parents should check whether the 2027 bulletin changes this structure.

Sainik School Eligibility 2027 for Class 6 and Class 9

The final Sainik School eligibility 2027 rules will be official only after NTA releases the AISSEE 2027 Information Bulletin. If the existing age structure continues, the expected age ranges for the 2027 to 2028 academic session are as follows.

Admission Class

Important Age Note

The 2027 date of birth ranges above are derived from the current NTA age formula and are not yet official for AISSEE 2027. Always recheck the exact dates after the official notification is released.

Can Girls Apply for Sainik School Admission 2027

Yes, under the latest official AISSEE rules, girls can apply for Class 6. Girls can also apply for Class 9 in existing Sainik Schools, subject to the availability of vacancies. For approved New Sainik Schools, parents should also check the admission policy and seat availability of the specific school.

Class 6 Educational Eligibility

For Class 6 admission, the candidate should be at the appropriate Class 5 level for the admission year. Parents should verify the exact wording in the 2027 bulletin, especially for candidates who are studying in approved New Sainik Schools under the separate 60 percent route.

Class 9 Educational Eligibility

For Class 9 admission to existing Sainik Schools, the current rule requires the candidate to have passed Class 8 from a recognised school at the time of admission. This is separate from the age condition, so both requirements must be satisfied.

Sainik School Application Form 2027

The Sainik School application form 2027 will be available online on the official NTA AISSEE portal after the notification opens. The latest bulletin allows online applications only. Parents should not submit multiple applications for the same admission level because the current rules state that duplicate forms can be rejected.

Under the latest scheme, Class 9 is conducted in English only. Class 6 candidates can choose from 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Punjabi and several regional languages. The 2027 notification should be checked to confirm the final language list.

AISSEE 2027 Syllabus for Class 6 and Class 9

The official 2027 syllabus will be published with the AISSEE 2027 Notification. Students can begin now with the latest NTA syllabus because the core subject structure is already clear.

Class 6 Subjects and Important Preparation Areas

·   Mathematics. Number system, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, geometry, perimeter, area, time, work, money, speed and related Class 5 level concepts.

·   Language. Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, sentence formation and language usage up to the Class 5 level.

Class 9 Subjects and Important Preparation Areas

·   General Science. Physics, Chemistry and Biology topics at the middle school level, including force, friction, sound, light, metals and non metals, combustion, cells, reproduction, microorganisms, pollution and natural phenomena.

·   Social Science. Geography, resources, weather and climate, government, the Constitution, Parliament, local government, markets, Indian civilisation, empires, cultural history and the colonial period.

AISSEE Qualifying Marks and Merit

Under the latest rules for existing Sainik Schools, a candidate normally needs at least 25 percent marks in each subject and 40 percent in aggregate. The latest bulletin makes an exception for SC and ST candidates for existing Sainik Schools, who are considered on inter se merit within their categories. For approved New Sainik Schools, the 25 percent subject minimum and 40 percent aggregate rule currently applies to all candidates, including SC and ST. These rules must be rechecked for 2027.

Qualifying the examination does not guarantee a seat. Admission depends on the merit list, school choice, category, domicile rules where applicable, available vacancies, medical fitness and verification of original documents.

Reservation Rules, Current Reference

For existing 33 Sainik Schools in the latest bulletin, 67 percent of seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in the State or Union Territory where the school is located, and 33 percent are for candidates from other States and Union Territories. Within those groups, the current structure includes reservations for SC, ST, OBC NCL and wards of defence personnel and ex servicemen. Because the 2026 bulletin also notes an ongoing legal matter affecting reservation rules, parents should use the 2027 notification as the final reference before making school choice decisions.

Sainik School Selection Process 2027

The Sainik School selection process is more than a written exam. A high score is important, but the candidate must also complete counselling, medical fitness and document verification.

Sainik School Entrance Exam 2027 Preparation Strategy

·   Starting full mock tests before the basic syllabus is understood.

·   Ignoring Mathematics because the child is stronger in English or GK.

·   Taking mocks without reviewing incorrect answers.

·   Using too many books instead of completing one clear study plan.

·   Leaving document preparation until the application or counselling deadline.

·   Assuming a qualifying score guarantees admission.

·   Choosing schools without checking vacancies, domicile rules and category wise competition.

·   Treating a third party exam date as official before NTA confirms it.
